World bank is a international financial institution that provides loans for member countries for pursuing capital projects.

It comprises of two institutions,  international bank for reconstruction and development,  IBRD and international development association, IDA.

It is a component of world bank group.
It is founded in 1945, has headquarters in Washington d.c.it has 189 members countries.
